Never too Young to Work

September 24, 2009
Another successful conference with our infamous Chairman of the Board in tow. Donning his spiffy company uniform, he stood out front hawking pens. "These ah fwee. These ah fwee."

The attendees played a game where every vendor they visited stamped a card for them. Once filled, the attendee became elligible for a drawing. Mikey perused the hall, getting stamps left and right.

When the speaker resumed he said, "We have a special guest among us. I'm sure you've all seen him already. Our first winner is Mikey!" He Forest Gumped up the the podium to collect his box of chocolates, big big big smile across his face as he was applauded.

Soon after, things began to deteriorate.

Rapidly...deteriorated.

Back in the hotel, the poor little guy was so tuckered out that mama had to strip him down to his chonies, fluff his covers and serve him pizza in bed while he watched cartoons.

Who Needs Beckham when you've got a Beau and a Sco?

September 15, 2009
Mikey had his first 'real' soccer game last Saturday and I have to say, I was quite shocked they played so well. At practice it's like an ant hill with the kids going in different directions, not listening, etc. But at the game they came together and actually made a few goals.

The first game, Mikey was a goaly. He bounced back and forth between the posts shouting in his transformer voice, "You'll never get past me. Haaaa haaaa haaa haaaaa!" It sounded quite sinister but it worked. Only one ball got past the little terminator.

The season has already been a bit tiring with practice every Monday and Wednesday night and now games every Saturday, but it's all been worth it for this one picture:

That's Mikey sporting his new faux-hawk hair cut with his arm around his best bud, Cody S. They've known each other since they were two and he's bummed they're going to different kindergartens so we're gonna do our best to keep in touch.

Thanks Andrea for this great picture.

A Shameless Plug

September 10, 2009

Well looky there. Who's that in the red sweatshirt on page 109 of the Summer 2009 Edition in the nationally renowned Charter Schools Today publication?

Now run right out and buy one. It's sure to be full of lively articles and mind-enhancing content.

The Red Dot that came to Life

September 9, 2009
I have a 'gadget' on the right side of my blog called Cluster Map. Cluster Map is a fun little application that lets you know the general global locations of your readers. Quite often I wonder about the people responsible for the red dots on say, Africa or South America. Did they adopt internationally? Were they googling 'Jet Blue Sucks' and my blog popped up? Are they a 6 degrees of separation aquaintance?

Now and then one of these red dots leaves me a comment. I love that. "Wow. Those are real people reading my blog." And sometimes something bigger happens.

A little over a month ago I got an email from a couple who are waiting for an adoption referral. They said they enjoy reading my blog and think my kids are so adorable they sketched a picture of Jaden - would we like to see it? Of course!! When I showed it to Jaden, a big smile lit up her face as she pointed to it and repeated, "Daden. Daden."

Thank you Jose & Jen. It's an incredible gift and lifetime keepsake that will hang in Jaden's room. And I still plan on taking you up on the offer to sketch Mikey but I have to find a photo of him where he's not sticking his tongue out or trying to look like a monster.

Big Happy Birthday to my baby brother, Rex, and my beautiful niece, Kalya.

In my Defense...

September 4, 2009
Recently I posted this picture on my FB account.

Waiting at REI for new strollers.

While half of the comments left were about how cute Jaden looked, the other half caught the caption, particularly the mention of 'new strollers' and basically accused me of falling off the stroller wagon.

OK OK, so I have a problem with love strollers. If you recall, I'd finally found THE perfect stroller, rid myself of the extras and vowed to never buy another. Turns out my perfect Bob Duallie Revolution has one major problem - the Kiddie Monster fight like, well, MONSTERS when they're sitting side-by-side for more than 17.5 seconds.

And you've just gotta love REI's 100% satisfaction guarantee. They've already agreed to take it back because

fighting kids = unsatisfied mom

So out of necessity, bye bye my beloved Big Daddy Bob...

and hellloooooo my precious little Bobby and Bobette. Our walk last night was nice and peaceful. PRICELESS.

Jaden looooves chewing gum.

ABCDEFG....

Sept. 6, 2009

Terribly excited about receiving a note saying Mikey knows his ABC song now, I whipped out the video recorder so I could engrain this monumental feat into our family history.

It's gonna be a loooooong year.

By the looks of it, I'm not the only parent who got carried away.
